South Vancouver Community Food Hub

The South Vancouver Community Food Hub is a community-based initiative of South Vancouver Neighbourhood House. We work alongside residents, volunteers, organizations, businesses, and local partners to improve access to healthy, culturally appropriate food while building a stronger, more connected South Vancouver.

Since 2020, the Food Hub has grown from an emergency response into a long-term community resource. Today, we continue providing weekly food access to hundreds of families while connecting residents with programs, services, and opportunities that support wellbeing and strengthen community.

What We Do

Dignified Food Access

Everyone deserves access to healthy food. We work with community partners to provide stable, low-barrier food access for families across South Vancouver.

Holistic Support

Food is often the first conversation, not the last. We connect residents with programs, services, and community resources that support their wellbeing, strengthen relationships, and help people reach their goals.

Community Leadership

Residents are at the heart of the Food Hub. We create opportunities for people to share their knowledge, build relationships, and take an active role in shaping programs and strengthening South Vancouver’s food system.

Partnerships & Collaboration

We believe lasting change happens when communities work together. By sharing resources, knowledge, and ideas, we strengthen local food systems and expand opportunities for residents.

Our Vision

We envision a South Vancouver where everyone has reliable access to healthy food and the opportunity to shape a thriving local food system.

Our long-term priorities are:

Dignified Food Access

Maintain stable, low-barrier access to healthy food.

Local Food Economy

Support community-led food businesses, multicultural markets, and social enterprises that strengthen neighbourhood food systems.

Learning & Community Connections

Create opportunities for cooking, gardening, cultural celebrations, and resident-led learning that build skills, confidence, and belonging.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

Work alongside residents and partners to raise awareness, amplify community voices, and advance lasting solutions that improve food equity.

Working Together for Food Equity

The South Vancouver Community Food Hub initiative coordinates the South Vancouver Food Network (SVFN), bringing together organizations, residents, and community leaders working to improve food access across South Vancouver.

We are also an active member of the Vancouver Neighbourhood Food Networks (VNFN) and the Vancouver Food Justice Coalition (VFJC). Together with our partners, we contribute to a more diverse, resilient, and equitable food system by sharing resources, collaborating on programs, supporting advocacy efforts, and creating opportunities for residents to lead positive change in their communities.
