One of Reframing South Vancouver’s key goals is to be a conduit between local residents and decisionmakers and elevate community voice, in order to address the ongoing and historical inequities in our catchment.

To achieve this, we have engaged over 6,500 residents through events and workshops, and launched the Neighbourhood Advisory Committee (NAC). The NAC gathers South Vancouver residents from all backgrounds to effect change by engaging in conversations with decisionmakers and offering direct input to community planning processes such as TransLink’s Burrard Peninsula Area Transport Plan and City of Vancouver’s Village Planning Program. In addition, through the Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) program, we built up countless community leaders that deliver local projects in their neighbourhoods. We also supervised students from UBC Social Work, UBC ACAM, UVic Social Work, Langara Geography, Canada Summer Jobs, SFU Urban Studies, offering practical experience in community advocacy work. Utilizing a multi-pronged engagement model, we mobilized grassroots participation and advocacy to amplify the long-lost voice of South Vancouver residents.
